My thoughts had been racing and sleep was impossible. By day the idea of moving from Santa Barbara to Washington state and starting a new life seemed romantically adventurous. At night it seemed terrifying. I had been holding my fears and doubts at bay by playing endless games of Scrabble on my phone. Now I settled onto the couch and watched as my phone screen lit up. Scrabble would keep my fears at bay for the next hour or so. “QIS” with a triple letter score. Yes! 73 points. Wow – that felt satisfying. The Scrabble scenario is probably not what you would expect from a professional coach when you are experiencing change and transition in your life.
